Cutting-in Disconnect Switches Rubber Glove Method

This 33-minute video shows how to add disconnect switches to existing, energized, three-phase overhead distribution lines. The conductors are raised to a temporary crossarm above the pole. The old crossarm is reinforced and the disconnect switches installed. The lines are reinstalled on the old arm, jumpered around the switches, attached to the switches, and the jumpers and temporary crossarm are removed. Rubber gloves are used throughout, with some work done from an insulated platform.(Courtesy Hubbell)
