Electrical Tests on the Nylon Strap on a Hoist, With and Without a Link Stick (Hubbell)

Summary
This 9-minute video shows lab tests on nylon straps of a hoist. Three lengths of straps, dry and wet, are tested with various voltages across them. Current passing through the straps is sufficient to cause several straps to burn and break. Next, the tests are done with an insulated link stick added to the configuration. The current flow through the strap is now effectively zero. The message: Don’t depend on the nylon strap of a hoist to function as an insulator — add a link stick.(Courtesy Hubbell)
