Workplace Precautions Against Bloodborne Pathogens (OSHA)

Suppose a co-worker is injured and bleeding. You’re the only person around, so it falls to you to render first aid. How do you protect yourself from AIDS and other diseases which could be carried in his blood?

This 24-minute video explains procedures to protect yourself from diseases which are carried in the blood. It explains the regulations on blood borne pathogens defined in Title 29 CFR Part 1910.1030.

This video is primarily for healthcare workers, not electric utility workers. But the same precautions explained here apply to every workplace.(Courtesy OSHA)
